General Questions
No prior experience required! We provide a comprehensive orientation and safety briefing before departure. Our staff ensures you're comfortable operating the boat before you leave. However, if you've never operated a boat, we highly recommend booking a captained charter for your first time.
Weather cancellations are at our discretion for safety. If we cancel due to unsafe weather conditions, you'll receive a full refund or can reschedule at no charge.
Yes, you can explore the entire 32-mile length of Lake George! We'll provide a detailed map and highlight popular destinations, marinas, restaurants, and islands. Stay away from posted restricted areas and respect private property.
All boats are thoroughly inspected before every rental. In the unlikely event of mechanical issues, call us immediately using your cell phone. We'll provide assistance, troubleshooting, or a replacement boat when possible. Mechanical failures are not charged to your rental.
Yes, if the boat is available for additional time. Contact us during your rental to extend. Additional hourly charges apply, and extensions are subject to availability and existing reservations.
Please return on time to respect other customers' reservations. Late returns will incur additional charges and could affect others' bookings. Call us if you're running late.
Please note that all hourly and daily rentals must be returned by 5:00 pm
Early pickup or late return may be available by special arrangement (subject to availability and additional fees). Discuss with our rental team when booking.
Basic boat operation and safety equipment is included. Tubes, water skis and wakeboards are available to rent separately. Reserve add-ons when booking.
Capacity & Passengers
Absolutely! We welcome families. Life jackets available in all sizes, including infant and child sizes (included in your rental).
Children under 12 must wear life jackets at all times when underway (NY State law).
Passenger capacity is based on boat- please confirm at time of reservation for your particular boat as it is strictly enforced.
Yes! Your dog count toward boat capacity. Ensure your dog is comfortable on boats. Not permitted on island docks.
Captain may end rental if pet becomes disruptive.
Pontoon boats offer the easiest boarding and most stable platform. Please inform us of any mobility concerns when booking so we can provide appropriate assistance and a boat recommendation.
Lake George Boating Safety & Regulations
Critical Lake George Regulations
Before departing, all renters must understand these essential Lake George boating rules. Violations can result in fines, citations, and safety hazards.
Speed Limits Daytime (sunrise to sunset): 45 MPH maximum speed
Nighttime (sunset to sunrise): 25 MPH maximum speed
Posted areas: Always follow posted speed limit signs
Law Enforcement: Actively patrolled by Lake George Park Commission
"No Wake" means minimal wake—idle speed that creates no significant waves.
5 MPH maximum speed within 100 feet of:
- Docks, piers, and marinas
- Moored or anchored vessels
- Swimmers in the water
- Shore (in designated areas)
- Posted no-wake zones throughout lake
- Narrow channels between islands
- All passengers MUST have accessible, Coast Guard-approved life jackets
- Children under 12 must wear life jackets at all times when vessel is underway
- Properly fitted life jackets in appropriate sizes for all
- Life jackets must be in good, serviceable condition
- Strictly enforced—violations result in fines
- Life Jackets are included with your rental
- NY State Boating While Intoxicated (BWI) laws apply on water
- Legal limit: 0.08% BAC (same as driving)
- Heavy fines, possible jail time, and loss of boating privileges
- Open container laws apply to operator
- Please boat responsibly—designate a sober operator
- No littering - Keep Lake George pristine (zero tolerance)
- Use pump-out stations for holding tanks (available throughout lake)
- Respect wildlife and natural habitats—observe from distance
- Stay on marked channels in shallow areas to protect aquatic plants
- Report any fuel spills immediately
- Vessel on right has right-of-way when crossing paths
- Overtaking vessel must yield to vessel being overtaken
- Powered vessels yield to sailboats (with exceptions)
- All vessels yield to vessels restricted in maneuverability
